Banijay Germany's entertainment content reaches almost four billion viewers annually across television, the internet, and on stage. Their repertoire includes internationally popular formats such as "Beat the Star" (ProSieben), "The Masked Singer" (ProSieben), "Kitchen Impossible" (VOX), and "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" (RTL).

This makes Banijay Germany and its more than 1,000 employees the largest independent German production company.

The vision: To work from anywhere in the world just like in the office, using the cloud.

For Banijay Germany, the digital office shouldn't remain a vision of the future, but rather be implemented in practice. Employees should be able to work regardless of location or time – simply opening their laptops from anywhere in the world and working as if they were in the office. With constant access to the latest information, completely digital, without paper or external storage media – and all this in a highly dynamic media environment with a multitude of file formats and sometimes very large (video) files.

Cloud solutions should play a central role in this. “In today’s world, it’s almost grossly negligent not to be in the cloud. The cloud offers optimal scalability and greater security,” says Sebastian Menge, Head of IT at Banijay Germany. In addition to meeting very high security and compliance standards, seamless integration with Microsoft Office 365 and support for large media files were also among Banijay’s requirements.

The ideal platform for the digital office

Banijay Germany originally planned to implement its digital office exclusively using Microsoft's OneDrive. However, after months of consultation with external service providers and a thorough analysis, Sebastian Menge's team realized that OneDrive alone was insufficient to achieve their goal of a paperless office. Therefore, they opted for the Box Content Cloud, which was already familiar to the company.

“We find that [Box] is the product that best supports us on our journey to a paperless office in terms of management, capabilities, communication, administration and security,” explains Sebastian Menge.

The Box Content Cloud has been established at Banijay Germany as a central work platform and collaboration tool for all content formats. From the development and production of new television formats with colleagues around the world, through feedback processes with clients (the so-called screening), to the creation of schedules for various scripted reality formats – all work steps take place on Box.

By storing content in the cloud and offering Box's extensive real-time collaboration features for a wide variety of file formats, it no longer matters where employees and customers are located. They always have access to the information they need while operating in a highly secure environment.

Data protection first

Information security plays a central role in IT strategy today. Banijay Germany is no exception.

With the help of Box's security solutions, Banijay Germany can ensure that all data protection and compliance requirements are met:

• Box Zones enables regional storage of all content
• Box Shield protects data from unauthorized access and helps to detect and contain data leaks and malware attacks
• Box Governance ensures compliance with statutory retention periods

Thanks to native integration with Microsoft 365, content is protected even beyond the Content Cloud. For example, it is not possible to send content classified as "confidential" in Box via Microsoft Outlook.
